BRAND HISTORY

In 2016, Marie Bastide settled in the vibrant city of Marrakech, and since then, creativity has never stopped flowing. Every day is a new source of inspiration, a new idea to explore. Accompanied by her associates, united by a common desire to magnify Moroccan craftsmanship and elevate it to the level of art, the brand is rooted in Marrakesh culture and draws its essence from the multiple influences that have shaped Morocco over the centuries.

SHADES OF BLACK

It is with great emotion that we open the doors today to one of the workshops we have been collaborating with for several years: the dyeing workshop.

In this family-run business, where expertise has been passed down from father to son for four generations, raffia is hand-dyed in an infinite variety of shades and colors.

That day was dedicated to black, for the creation of our signature basket and evening clutch in black raffia.

We spent the afternoon alongside the artisans, watching as our shades of black were dyed. Watching their movements, their precision, and their almost choreographed way of working with the material is deeply moving. Like a silent dance between hands, water, fiber, and color.

The irregularities, depths, and variations of black are what make this artisanal dyeing so beautiful and render every piece in our collections unique.

At Marie Bastide Marrakech, we believe that a beautiful object must also have meaning. Preserving these rare skills, supporting a living craft, and valuing the work of the hands is an integral part of our vision: Do Good, Do Beautiful.

It is with great pride and gratitude that we share with you these images of a precious human heritage that we are deeply committed to preserving.
